I have a receiver, and was wondering why the sound was so poor so I connected the speakers to the receiver, and took the subwoofer out completely which makes the cube speakers sound awesome, and louder. Just get a powered subwoofer, and you have an awesome system. I tried the Acoustimass 5 on the optional stands, mistakenly I had a pair of Klipsch Heresy III's in the room, as expected, the Heresy III's toasted them, but the Heresy III's are $1600 a pair, so was this a real comparison. No, it was a pair of professional sound reinforcement speakers v. home stereo speakers. I wouldn't dream of comparing them to the Forte II's or any of the large Klipsch systems. Didn't really know what to expect, but HOLY COW, I put them through tests with my iPod, whatching tv, and even playing video games, and each time, it was like you were right there, in the action or at the concert. Both products work excellent! Bose's sound is amazing! Easy to set up. Easy to use. I selected the Bose UB-20B Wall/Ceiling Bracket to install the speakers. Uff very easy as well. The speaker cables is long enough, however, I decided to cut them to reduce management cable. About the Pioneer Elite VSX-21TXH, a lot of features. I wasn't looking for HUGE sound, and these speakers are perfect. The quality is great (what you expect from Bose). The only downside is that there isn't a very powerful bass. It's there, but not really doing much. If your looking for enhanced sound for a tv without getting a total he theater, these speakers are great. [2] Rating: 4 Date: 2007-10-18 Summary: It does sounds good for its price. ... It seems like the first step to be an audiophile is to criticize Bose. I got lost on that path a little bit. I spent six months going around to listen to many others speakers (included Polk and Klipsch). Of course, I heard some decent speakers that sound better than Bose, but they usually cost at least $3,000 each. But, for the similar price range Bose is hard to be beaten.
