It is not that much diffifult to connect. The shipping takes lot of time. I have received this in about 10 days. The Woofer is very huge. The bass effect from woofer is excellent. Knowing about the remote control and on screen control will take little time for beginners. After you know about the remote the operation is very simple. The sound is excellent. The pieces are fairly hefty and will be prominent in a small room. I was surprised when this system was delivered and as I unboxed it. Sound quality is wonderful, though. I mounted the rear speakers on Definitive Technology ProStand 600/800 Speaker Stands (Pair, Black) and set them on either end of my couch. I mounted the other four speakers on the wall and routed the wires inside the wall to make for a clean install. (For anyone pulling wire under ...more

It might not satisfy the audiophile, but it handles music quite well also. Dynamics are good, and video performance has been solid. We put Avatar on the other day, and it simply shook the house to it's core. I still can't believe this system costs less than $1,000. My previous home theater was a B&W speaker system with a Denon receiver and a Velodyne sub. While that system was amazing, it also cost more than 5 times what this system does. This ...more

This system ties in all of my components from the Blu Ray to the PS3 and Cable and runs it all into the system for great sound and out to the HDTV looking fantastic. I could not be happier with the sound quality and performance. I even got my upstairs neighbor upset with the sound output in the first week! HA! I started my research with Consumer Reports, and I noted that Onkyo generally was at the top of their ratings, although this particular unit was not reviewed. I searched online, and saw good reviews on Amazon. I also found that the system was a top pick by Home Theater magazine. It was delivered in just a few days at a time convenient for me. (The delivery company called ahead of time.) It came in a fairly big box (in good condition), but not as big as some ...more

(http://www.amazon.com/Monsoon-MH-505-6-Piece-Surround-Speaker/dp/B000066SSU) and the difference is more than monumental. My old PC speakers were great speakers when I got them, but they lacked the power needed to fill my new 14'x30' basement home theater room.
